Overview of the soccer field, community building and pavilion at GND RECComplete

The biggest and most important phase of the entire revitalization of the GND REC

Phase One has been completed!  A new 551 foot 6 inch water line, hydrant and two 2 inch lines to the GND REC have been installed.  “The Shack” has been transformed and rechristened the “GND REC”.

  • Concrete storage building
  • Paved trails with lighting
  • Parking Lot
  • Upgraded utilities including drainage

A new storage building has been constructed.  The entire area has under gone major earthwork to address drainage by setting elevation, installing drain pipes, a new 30 inch culvert and constructing rain gardens. Additionally paved trails with lighting have been installed to make the entire GND REC more environmentally friendly. An open air pavilion has been constructed be available to the community for public gatherings, concerts enjoy a beautiful day, or have a great place to rest as they bike down the St. Louis River Corridor.

An open turf play Area has been revitalized right outside “The REC”, giving an area with endless possibilities during the warmer months. Major landscaping and planting has been done throughout Phase One to enhance the beauty of the GND REC.   

Phase One includes the creation of the Vintage Acres Soccer Complex that consists of two soccer fields with a small baseball backstop for pick-up games. 

Phase One of the GND REC transformation has something to offer everyone including additional parking.

WHAT CAN YOU DO?

The GND Community Center and Recreation Area is dedicated to providing a place to be used by members of the community for social, cultural, learning and recreational purposes.

The community is in a period of transition with many new people moving to the community. The GND REC provides the catalyst for bringing the community together, benefiting young people and seniors alike while instilling an overall sense of pride throughout the community.
